Herbert Hoover
Republican
31st President
1929-1933
Vice President:
Born: August 10, 1874 in West Branch, Iowa
Died: October 20, 1964 in New York, New York
I would give President Herbert Hoover a C+ because he did an okay job for a President when so much pressure was placed upon him. He handeled the crash well but not great and hardly better than aweful. By Hoovers misfortune the stock market crashed onl eight months after his inaugeration. Unfortunately he was then used as the Scapegoat for the Great Depression leaving him vulnerable to all critics even more vulnerable than many other Presidents.
Hoovers platform supported prohibition, promised more of the same prosperity America enjoyed in President Coolidges years as President, worked towards lower taxes, and rejected farm subsidies.Prohibition didnt change drastically in the publics eye but the properity in America definetley did not remain after the Stock market crash in 1929 it left America sinking farther down than ever before. Cutting the taxes was became a reaction to the Crash, Hoover even expanded public works spending.
